Shake off those Naplan Blues!
By now you may be getting somewhat stressed about the upcoming Naplan tests in Maths. No need to! By now you have completed several revision sheets and also checked out the online materials at this Naplan site? Great! The goal here is to be familiar with each of the “calculator” and “non calculator” Naplan Maths tests. Look at the key words in each question, such as “perimeter”, “mass”, “ratios”, “patterns”, “area”, “percentage”. Do a quick search for these in your textbook and review the example questions. The non-calculator paper often uses estimates – e.g. “2.89 x 3.057” best equals? Round these numbers to “2.9 x 3” which equals 8.7 as an approximate answer (you are usually given four to choose from).
