How to improve in Math Class
Here are 7 golden rules for improving in your Mathematics at school. The most important one is to Pay attention in class. If you aren’t listening to the teacher, how will you possibly learn the math and pass the tests? Duh!
That’s why it’s important to pay attention to the teacher when he or she is talking. To pay attention:
1. Remove all distracting items from your desk; this includes iPads, laptops (unless actually being used for the lesson);
2. Don’t be distracted by a friend sitting next to you (as in the picture above) – they will get the lower grades anyway!
3. Sit near the front (or a spot where you can see, hear, and concentrate);
4. Look at your teacher and listen attentively;
5. Take notes. Writing notes is very important because they will serve as a pathway to help you study for the test. Use lined paper and a pencil, and write down any key information that either the teacher or instructor is saying or writes on the board. Remember, you’ll be looking at your notes to study, so write clearly and neatly;
6. Write practice problems from the board or textbook.
7. Participate. Try to participate in class. It’ll help you understand the information, and it will show your maths teacher that you want to understand the problem and get involved. It’s like saying to your teacher, “Hey, I want to learn this stuff!” Also, when you participate in class your brain becomes more active! Have a go at answering even if you get it wrong at times. Participating really makes learning more concrete.
