No, we are not selling you a book, but…
The book title “How to Be a Math Genius” caught our attention at H3! It sure looks enticing and even the review is very positive – after all, how many 11 year olds will want to bring a Math book to read while having dinner? Reviewer Mark Frauenfelder writes, “I enjoyed learning about statistics, probability, zero, infinity, number sequences, and more in this heavily illustrated kids’ book called How to Be a Math Genius, by Mike Goldsmith. But would my 11-year daughter like it as much? I handed it to her after school and she become absorbed in it until called for dinner. She took it to the dinner table and read it while we ate. The next day, she asked for the book so she could finish it. Loaded with fun exercises (like cutting a hole through a sheet of paper so you can walk through it), How to Be a Math Genius will show kids (and adults) that math is often complicated, but doesn’t need to be boring.”
The point is this – it IS possible to train your brain to think mathematically! Engaging in Math puzzles can really help you connect the mathematical dots (aka electrical circuits) that are in your brain. However, you don’t necessarily have to buy a book to do this, as there are plenty of websites that have great puzzles for growing mathematicians like you! A shortlist is available here.
